ADVANTUM SPEAKS TO SAJ STAFF ON BEING PROACTIVE ABOUT CYBERSECURITY
At a recent cybersecurity awareness session for the Shipping Association of Jamaica (SAJ), ADVANTUM’s Communications and Marketing Executive, Tsahai Morgan, highlighted the critical importance of being proactive when it comes to cybersecurity.
Morgan emphasized that in today’s digital landscape, cybersecurity is no longer the sole responsibility of IT departments. With cyber threats growing more sophisticated and frequent, every employee must remain alert and take personal responsibility in protecting company data and digital infrastructure.

During the presentation, Morgan shared practical steps that employees can take to enhance their cyber vigilance. Drawing on recent high-profile cyber incidents, she introduced the S.C.A.M. method — a simple, memorable acronym designed to help individuals detect and prevent phishing attempts:
- S – Sender Check: Always verify the sender’s email address for unusual spelling or unfamiliar domains.
- C – Click with Caution: Hover over links before clicking. If anything feels off, don’t proceed.
- A – Always Verify: For urgent or sensitive requests, confirm the authenticity by contacting the source directly.
- M – Mismatched Info: Look out for poor grammar, strange formatting, or inconsistent branding — all signs of a potential scam.
Morgan stressed that cybersecurity is a shared responsibility. Through consistent education and awareness, organizations can empower their staff to become the first line of defense against digital threats.
