ADVANTUM was among several participants from the Caribbean’s IT and BPO sector that traveled to London from February 2-7, 2025, to participate in The UK Trade Partnership Programme. The recent visit to the UK was facilitated by the International Trade Centre (ITC), the Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) & the Jamaica Technology & Digital Alliance (JTDA), to forge Caribbean-UK partnerships to drive innovation and shape the future of digital trade. While visiting London, JAMPRO and ADVANTUM alongside nine companies were invited to The Business Show hosted by Bloomsbury Institute to discuss digital transformation and change with interviewer Arif Zaman.

“Each of these companies – Jamaicans, Trinidadians, Bahamians, Bajans – each of them brought unique expertise and innovative solutions to the global market,” says Laurence Jones, Manager of the JAMPRO European Office.

“These kinds of solutions aren’t just contact centres anymore. We’re talking business process outsourcing, digital transformations, cybersecurity, financial technology and software development. Their presence here in the UK underscores our regions capacity to deliver world class IT and BPO services to an international market,” he adds.

The business delegation alongside ADVANTUM, also included Adtelligent, Crucible International, CyberEye, Itel,  Kanoopays, Nio Digital, Shift Left, and Teleios Systems Limited, companies who operate across different Caribbean countries.

ADVANTUM SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS

ADVANTUM, founded in 1981 as a part of the Shipping Association of Jamaica (SAJ), is a premier technology company focused on providing modular software services to digitize and make small and medium sized ports across the Caribbean more efficient.

Since then, ADVANTUM has soared to new heights by offering technology solutions regionally, leading the charge for digital transformation in the shipping and logistics industry to boost operational efficiency of ports, shipping agencies and warehousing providers.

“We don’t just want to provide innovations that we have just to the Caribbean” says Tsahai Morgan, Communications and Marketing Exec of ADVANTUM, speaking about the company’s vision for global expansion.

“In the last couple of years, we have been receiving inquiries from the UK and from Australia, so we realized that what we have is still needed, even beyond our shores. Through the UK Trade Partnership Programme, we have been exploring opportunities to expand into the UK market particularly for small and medium size ports who could benefit from our solution especially in the area of workforce scheduling.”

Morgan stated that while in London, she realized that a lot of the small and medium sized ports in the UK are still scheduling their labour forces manually using spreadsheets.

“That is a difficulty we have already solved for our Caribbean counterparts through our workforce management system. It really helps in providing transparency in the process. In providing automation and in providing efficiency while also ensuring that you are complying with the various labour laws, with the unions and any other regulatory needs that are there around the scheduling of labour,” Morgan says.

A few major ports currently using The ADVANTUM eLabour software solution for their workforce management are Kingston Wharves Limited and Barbados Port Inc. The software solution offers labour scheduling and management capabilities, workforce planning and forecasting, as well as real-time updates through a worker portal and accompanying app. This really takes the hassle out of manually managing your workforce and instead integrating automations to streamline the process.
